The V8 SuperUtes Series is the modern iteration of Australian ute racing which debuted in Australia at the Adelaide street circuit back in 2001.
Drivers race dual-cab utes that have been significantly modified, with the diesel engines replaced with V8 petrol versions and the suspensions dropped to help the vehicles rip around race circuits.
In 2023, the category had wrapped up its season but drivers were so revved up to tackle the VAILO Adelaide 500 track that a special round was created. Drivers raced for the inaugural Tradies Cup, which went to the highest points scorer over the weekend’s races..
In 2024, as well as being confirmed as the finale for the category’s six-round calendar, the field will also compete for the Tradies Cup again - meaning drivers will have an extra reason to go all in on track.
The racing is so intense that at least one V8 SuperUte usually ends up on its side at some point during a session on the Adelaide streets, while watching the rear of the unloaded race vehicle slide out through Turn 8 is a sight not to be missed.
Long-time ute competitors Sieders Racing Team will likely be the team to beat in 2024, with its driver Aaron Borg taking out the championship as well as the Tradies Cup in 2023.
